This week we sat down with Siradio Dia, a 25-year-old myAgro field agent from the village of Sinthiou Maleme, where the majority of our Senegal activities are centered. This is Siradio’s first job, which he started in April 2013. He has quickly proven to be one of our strongest field agents—his dedication to and enthusiasm for myAgro has enabled him to enroll over 100 farmers in the program since we opened enrollment this year.
Q: Why did you want to work for myAgro?
A: I wanted to work for myAgro because I want to be an agent for development in my community by providing support to farmers in Sinthiou Maleme. Also, I am young, so I am working to support my family and myself as well.
Q: What kinds of knowledge and experience have you gained since you started working for myAgro?
A: myAgro has taught me a lot, most importantly communication. I now have the ability to communicate well with clients and to convince them of the benefits of working with myAgro. I have also learned many farming techniques from myAgro that I didn’t know before, such as fertilizer micro-dosing. I’m very grateful for that.
Q: What kinds of changes do you hope myAgro can make in your community?
A: I hope myAgro can accomplish the goals we have set so that people in our community live better and in harmony with one another, and so that people can gain wealth and be at ease in their daily lives. For myself, I’m going to do everything I can to be the best agent possible so that I can have a good family and build a house someday.
Q: Tell us something interesting about you that we might not know.
A: I’m very lucky, because I succeed at everything I try to achieve. I really like to rap and play soccer, and I’m always the best! (laughs). I always want to be ahead, because the future is ahead.
Q: So what will you do to be the best among your fellow field agents?
A: I’m going to take advantage of everything I have learned with myAgro in order to advance my career, and I will also apply these experiences in my personal life. Thank you!
